wiki Word: Volcanic Plug |

A volcanic plug is formed when lava is being pushed up the lava chamber in a volcano, but it either hardens when it meets contact with air, or doesnt have enough force pushing it to fully leave and erupt form the volcano. From that time on (Until the plug is blown of course) the rest of the magma and the pressure that comes along with it continue to build up. In some cases (like that of Mount. St. Helens) the volcano will twist and wrap form its original shape. All this pressure results in cracks and tunnels through the walls of the volcano. When the volcano does "Blow its top", the cap as well as some the mountian -- if the pressure is great enough -- will explode off and contribute to the following ash. Once the lava is hardened and rest of the mountian is eroded away the "plug" is now called a volcanic neck.

This would relate to out lab for obvois (I NEED SPELL CHECK! >_<) reasons. In our study of Mars, we are itdentifiying surface features like craters and volcanos. If you read the definition above, you should have a basic understanding of how a volcanic plug relates to a volcano, therefore to our lab(s).
. . .Or, if you didn't read the definition, it relates to our labs by showing how presure can build up, and,
ultimmatrely, GO BOOM!!!
