wiki Word:Suspension |
| Definition: The state in which the particles of a substance are mixed with a fluid but are undissolved. |
|
In a suspension you can stir or shake these mixtures to mix particles, but they eventually settle out. Suspensions are also heterogeneous mixtures. In a suspension particles can be didtributed in a solid, liquid, and a gas. An example of a suspension would be a snow globe because when you turn it upside down, and turn it over again the particles settle down. Other examples of a suspension is M & M's, mud , and a ceasar salad. |

| So What? Suspension is a very important term in science because its a type of matter and EVERYTHING has matter. So lets just say your doing a lab and your teacher asks you to determine what type of mixture mud is, well your not going to know weather its a solution, suspension, or colloid. In class we learned about suspension by a lab that we did where we had to make a chart and make a list of things and determine there properties and what type of mixture it was. So as you can see its very important to know suspension. |
