Definition: Scalar is a quantity that has a magnitude, but it has no direction.

Scalar: Examples:
Speed: The rate at which an object travels or the rate of change in position.
Time: The units of time are minutes, hours, days etc., and it has nothing to do with direction.
Volume: The amount of mass that can be held inside of an object. Anything can be a scalar quantity,for instince the weight of an object or the quantity of an object.

When we worked on our air rocket bottles we measured in a scalr quantity. We measured for how long it stayed in the air. We didn't record what direction the bottle went, but how long it stayed in the air. We used mainly scalar quantities in our labs.
