displacment is the total distance an object has traveled in a strait line.When you go from one side of the great wall to the other you travel many miles to go around, but your displacment is only a couple of feet.The reference piont is the point at which you started.

this word applied to our air rocket car lab becouse we measured how long it took to get to a certain mark from the start point (or the refference point),but often it turned of course to get there and therefor went farther.
