wiki Word:   orbital velocity

Definition: the minimum velocity at whitch a body must move to maintain a given orbit

  • The percise speed of orbital velocity is between 17,000 and 18,000 miles per hour.

  • When a satellite is in orbit, it must maintain that speed. If it goes slower it will fall back to earth.

  • If a satellite is going to fast it will slingshot out of the planet gravity field.

We studied orbital velocity because it is very important when we put something into orbit. It is a very percise speed, and it is differant for every planet. So when you go to space you must know orbital velocity!!!
