A meteoroid is a bunch of debris gathered up in space. They all combine together to the size of a grand of sand to the size of an enormous boulder. Meteoroids are what you see when a meteor shower hits the Earth. They are sometimes called "shooting stars". There are three actual types of meteoroids. There is a meteorite, meteor, and of course the meteoriod. To remember that a meteoroid is in the solar system or space, try and remember asteroid because meteoriods and asteroids are both in space.

How does this term apply to any of our class labs? Sometimes, meteoroids flying in space will become meteors and fall through the atmosphere in Earth and even Mars. They will hit the ground and become meteorites. This applies to our class labs because when the meteors hit the ground they make holes in the ground called craters and we are studing Mars and craters that meteors make. The other day we did a lab on craters by dropping marbles in flour.
