Definition: a super-heated molten liquid,that is expelled from a volcano during an eruption.

 

 The molten liquid inside a volcano is not lava ,it's magma.Thereare two types of lava; mafic lava- a low viscosity lava that loves to flow,and fesic- a high viscosity lava that hates to move at all. Mafic lava can actually enlarge a shield volcano.

 

 

 

 

Lava applies to are lab because the volcano on Mars,Olympus Mons,may have erupted in the past so the lava-flows could create strata (for more on strata see strata).
