The Heliosheath is one of the layers that sourounds the sun within the Helioshere. It extends about 8.7 billion miles out from the sun. The Heliosheath is the layer after the termenation shock and it is shaped like the coma of a comet. People have known about the heliosheath since the late 1950's. It trails several times the distance in the direction opposite to the sun's path through space. The Heliosheath is very im portant to humans too, it helps protect us from galactic cosmic rays.

The Heliosheath is very important for us to be studying in class because it is about our sun and the sun is an important factor of human life. Every study of space moves us closer to knowing even more about our existence and the Heliosheath is one of those steps and it is a ray in which our Earth lives inside. The Heliosheath is one of many shields that protects us from the suns dangerous rays and if it weren't here we might not be either.
