An element is a substance that cannot be seperated or broken down into simpler substances by chemical means.
Say you have a rock and you keep cutting it in half. You can keep cutting it and cutting it. Then eventually you wont be able to cut it anymore. Then it is an element. When something is in its simplist form and cant be
broken down anymore it is an element. They place all the elements onto the Periodic Table of Elements to help classify them byt their atomic mass.

Everyone needs to understand what an element is. Elements are a very importnat part in science. Elements make up everything! If it werent for elements... there would be nothing. We are studying the Table of elements in class. Each student was assigned an element to research. If we didnt know what an element was we would have no clue what to do. Elements might apply to a lab we do by braking things up into key elements we need to research. Using the word emenets there is just breaking it down into key concepts. An element is the key concept of somethiing.
