wiki Word:Drag |
Definition:The aerodynamic force that opposes an aircraft's motion through the air.
Drag is a mechanical force that is generated by an interaction between a solid body and a fluid (liquid or gas).Drag is generated by the difference in velocity between a solid and a fluid.Drag is a force and is therefore a vector quanity that has both a magnitude and a direction. We can think of drag as aerodynamic friction, and one of the sources of drag is the skin friction between the molecules of the air and the solid's surface.

We are studying this term because we are learning about Mars, space travel, and the forces like friction that affect any solid object off the ground.Drag is a friction between air (fluid) and a solid or projectile flying off the ground so the faster it goes, the more friction applied.
