The Sun's Corona is basicly an outer layer of super-hot plasma that can reach up to 2 million degrees. Its helium and hydrogen are super-heated so much that the atom are completely stripped of electorons. Years ago, scientisis couldn't even recognize the components of the corona. That's when they started proposing the idea of coronium. The corona emits massive amounts of X-rays radiation. solar wind and flares also originate there. How the corona still exists is a mystery to scientists. The SOHO and TRACE vehicles are currently gathering data on the sun. The corona is seen as a white rim around the moon during a solar eclipse. The shape of the corona is changing thanks to the sunspot cycle. Coronal Mass Ejection (or CME) is When the corona launches high-velocity flares going well over ome million miles per hour.
