DEFINITION: the hubble space telescope is a telescope that was sent into Earth orbit by the Space shuttle to take pictures of the universe. 

The Hubble Space Telescope is not the first but is the largest telescope to ever go into earth's orbit. It has two intuments, imagers and spectographs. imagers take picures and spectographs analize light. It is named after the American astronomer, Edwin Hubble. Outside of having a telescope being named after him, he demonstrated that there are other galaxies outside of the milky way. The discoveries that The Hubble telescope made led to great breakthoughs in lots of things. Hubble is the only telescope that was made for service by astronauts in space. The launch date for Hubble was April 24, 1990 and it is scheduled to deorbit between 2013 and 2021.

The Hubble space telescope is important to learn about because it has made many breakthroughs in the astrospace category and probably many more. It gives pictures of things that humans alone could never get. It orbits the Earth but it gets pictures of the faintest things in the Universe. The telescope can get pictures of things in different veiws because it can analize the light in untraviolet and infarred radiation.
