Famous Scientist or Inventor: NIcolaus Copernicus

  Copernicus was born on Febuary 19,  1473 in Torun, Poland, he was the youngest of four children, one sister and two brothers. He went to Krakow Acadamy where he first incountered astronomy. After finishing schoolwith a Ph.D Copernicus returned to Poland where he spent his live in astronomy. Nicolaus unlike most people in that time believed and proved that our solar system orbited around the sun insted of Earth ( called the heliocentric system ), this is a much easier sanario and we know know that it is absolutly true. This was a hard discovery because during that time there where no telescopes so he has to use only his eyes. Many people regected his idea of the planets revolving around the sun because they liked to think that Earthn was the center of all things. This became the the landamrk of scienctific history. He wrote a book cMaalled On The Revolutions Of Hevanly Bodies,  that explains how things move in space. He also was a military leader, mathmatition and even a govener. This man was very acomplished and smart. Finally he died on May 24, 1543

SO WHAT??? SECTION: We are studying this person in class because of his great discovery of the fact that the planets orbited the sun not Earth. This will come in handy beacause its always good to know more scientist! Not to metion that his discovery will help us better understand the way things work in space. :) This will help in everyday life as well because  its a great conversation topic and as I said its good to know how things work in space
