The Big Bang Theory is an idea of how the universe began. According to the Big Bang Theory, the universe was created between ten and twenty billion years ago when a cosmic expansion threw chunks of matter into space in all different directions.

COMMON MISCONCEPTIONS

Some things about the Big Bang Theory are often mistaken; such as the 'explosion.' There was no real explosion it was an expansion, and the universe today is still in fact expanding. Also most people tend to think that the bang came from a fire ball that was floating in space waiting to explode. The real fact according to many experts is that nothing existed before the Big Bang. Not time, energy, matter, or space. 

IS IT PLAUSIBLE?

The Big Bang Theory is the most credible theory for how the universe began. It is the theory that most experts stand by. But is it true? 

There are several facts that support the Big Bang, some of which include the expansion of the universe and how it must have started at a small single point. Another is that the Big Bang should have created  certain amounts of hydrogen and helium. This amount predicted have been found almost exaclty to the amount. The Big Bang Theory is also the only theory that can alow us to predidct the future of our universe.

Kinda a timeline of the expansion of the universe

Scientist need to know about the Big Bang Theory beacuse now we know that the universe is expaning, and we need to know about how and where it could be expaning to. If we knew how the universe began to spread since the begining of time then we could find out where some galaxies and other matter could be headed, and watch them.
